The Goal of This Symposium
African Americans often times seem to get the short end of the stick when it relates to healthcare. Many times, we are not aware of the choices we have when it comes to managing our healthcare. The goal of the symposium is to address disparities in health and to seek ways to reduce early death in the African American community in Pittsburgh. This will be accomplished through direct communication between healthcare experts, community leaders, and the people they serve. On site health screenings will be available free of charge.
Who Should Come:
Mothers Fathers Brothers and Sisters Teenagers the Community
The Objective of the Conference:
At the conclusion of the symposium, participants should be equipped to:
- Understand how to obtain excellent healthcare
- Understand how illness affects you directly and what you can do to change your health
- Close the gap in health care as it relates to the delivery of healthcare
- Understand how your family history affects your health
- Understand the reasons for early death in the African-American Community
