CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: Celebrating Rising Stars & Innovators in Healthcare

Gateway Medical Society is pleased to announce its Call for Nominations for our 2024 Awards. These awards will recognize exemplary members during our October 19, 2024 Awards Gala.

Nominations are being accepted for the following awards:

'RISING STAR' IN CLINICAL MEDICINE
This award recognizes and celebrates clinical excellence as evidenced by stellar clinical performance, exam/in-service scores, recognition as a Chief Resident, etc.

'RISING STAR' IN PHYSICIAN LEADERSHIP
This award celebrates the young physician whose passion and work have distinguished them as a future leader within medicine in general or their specialty specifically.

'EACH-ONE-TEACH-ONE' RISING STAR IN ACADEMIC MEDICINE
This award recognizes the junior faculty academic physician whose work in and beyond the clinical realm is positively impacting the learning space for medical students, residents and fellows.

'STAR BEYOND THE STETHOSCOPE' AWARD
This award recognizes activities, talents, prowess, etc. beyond the medical science space - for example someone who is an accomplished fiction author, chef, dancer, musician, athlete, etc.

'FOR THE GREATER GOOD' COMMUNITY OUTREACH & SERVICE CHAMPION
This award celebrates the work and local, regional or global impact/footprint of the resident, fellow, junior faculty or young physician beyond the clinical workplace. This work sits at the heart of GMS core values and mission.

MEDICAL SCIENCE & INNOVATION STAR
This award recognizes the scholarly work/research of a resident, fellow and/or junior faculty physician - the award will also recognize/acknowledge the senior investigator overseeing the resident/fellow's scholarly work.

'CHANGE-MAKER' HEALTHCARE POLICY & ADVOCACY CHAMPION
This award celebrates the contributions of a resident, fellow, junior faculty or young physician in the areas of healthcare policy, advocacy and/or social justice. Contributions might include either contributions to the improvement of diversity, equity and inclusion activities within the workplace or advocacy efforts within the community to improve the overall health of individuals, families and communities of color and/or poverty.

PHYSICIAN-EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR
This award recognizes the contribution of the junior clinical faculty member that epitomizes the qualities of an academic physician including excellence in clinical teaching, didactic engagement and mentorship.

RESIDENT PHYSICIAN OF THE YEAR
This award recognizes the clinical, leadership, teaching, research and advocacy/service contributions of a post-graduate physician currently involved in fellowship training.

FELLOW OF THE YEAR
This award recognizes the clinical, leadership, teaching, research and advocacy/service contributions of a resident post-graduate physician

OSWALD J. NICKENS, MD YOUNG PHYSICAN OF THE YEAR
This award highlights the work of a physician within the first 5 years of completing residency and/or fellowship training. Accomplishments might include entrepreneurship, technologic innovation, improvements in clinical care, community service/advocacy or career development/leadership.

MEDICAL STUDENT STAR AWARDS (2)
Scholarship recipients-Medical School students that are in their 2nd year.

Please send the nominee's name, email address and telephone number, as well as a Statement of Nomination of less than 500 words, which explains why the nominee is deserving of this award, to administration@gatewaymedicalsociety.org
