THE FOUNDATION-- Mental, Physical, and Spiritual Health
of Black Women
In order to achieve wholeness/wellness one must be healthy
mentally, physically, and spiritually. We want to begin by addressing these
issues. In addition to the presentations, each presenter will guide audience
through a process that they can incorporate into their daily lives.
OBTAINING SECURITY-- Affordable Housing &
Homeownership
It is difficult for one to build a life without stable
housing. It is imperative that we ensure that Black Women and Children have
safe, clean and affordable housing, preferably homeownership. It provides
security and an asset for wealth building.
BUILDING WEALTH--Business Ownership Accessing Contracts
and Capital
Black Women are the fastest growing segment of new
businesses. We are quitting jobs and taking the leap, enough of training
someone who ends up being our supervisor. I am good enough to train, but not
good enough to have the job. However, our revenues are low, due to lack of
access to contracts and capital. In many cases, even being awarded a contract
without the money to execute the contract is still a major issue, these must go
hand-in-hand.
ADVOCACY & CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
How do we improve our conditions, what are the activities we
must undertake to improve the environment in which we exist? What groups and
organizations are making a difference in the lives of Black Women and families
and how do we get involved?
